For portrait and headshot photographers I am inspired by many photographers who were before me. I’ve been reviewing my list of my favorite celebrity headshots by photographers and there are some photographers (and maybe actors) who ask me for inspiration. ^{Sources: 0}

In the early years of your career, your unorthodox camera angles and unorthodox style produced some very powerful street photography. As you became more famous, you began photographing many famous people, and you worked with celebrities like Robert Downey Jr., Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Robert DeNiro, and Michael Jordan, to name a few. But it was not only the glitz and glamour that drew you into the world of commercial photography, but also the beauty of the people you photographed. After using the extra time to organize and archive my photos, I realized that it was not the pictures of celebrities and athletes that caught my eye, but the pictures of my own family. ^{Sources: 2, 5, 6}

At that point I knew I wanted to be not only a photographer, but a portrait photographer. In the past, photography was known only for fashion and advertising, and I never really realized that it was used as art before. ^{Sources: 3, 8}

I entered a competition for American photography and my two photos were selected and submitted for their annual book. Events, weddings and photo shoots have paved the way for me to become a professional photographer and have helped me learn more about cameras and equipment. I started with Rolling Stone magazine, then shot cover photos for Vanity Fair, was the official photographer for the 1996 Summer Olympics, and have my work exhibited all over the country. Let us now turn to contemporary photography with Ellen von Unwerth, an internationally renowned fashion photographer. As a talented photographer, she has been recognized as one of the best photographers in the world for her work with celebrities such as Kate Moss, Kate Upton, Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Beckinsale, as well as other celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Kors, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys and many more. ^{Sources: 1, 8}

Prague’s fascination with photography began one day when he came across an exhibition of the great William Eggleston. Arbus was indeed fascinated by the unusual and was quickly described as a “photographer freak.” The gap between advertisers and celebrities has been bridged, creating a mass market that yearns for the same kind of high-quality images of celebrities that the mainstream media craves. ^{Sources: 5, 8}

The advertising agency had three photographers in mind for the shoot, but Prager was considered the favorite. Given his iconic style, it is not surprising that the article calls Felline’s photography “one of the most iconic images in the history of commercial photography.” He wasn’t even in his 40s. He has worked with headliners and musicians as well as celebrities such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Madonna. Annie Leibovitz is an American photographer known for her engaging portraits that are honest and intimate. Success depends on the quality of her work and the interest in her pictures. Some names are worth mentioning, such as the photo that sold for a record $4.3 million on the New York Stock Exchange last year. ^{Sources: 8}

Leibovitz was one of the last professional photographers to photograph John Lennon and Yoko Ono before Lennon was assassinated on December 8, 1980. Arbus is another American photographer who is now widely known for her portraits of celebrities such as Madonna, Beyonce, Madonna’s mother and Madonna herself. Tom Munro is respected for his celebrity portraits, as he began and continues to work as a renowned fashion photographer. ^{Sources: 1, 8}

Rex focuses on editorial images and has had a long and successful career as an editorial photographer for magazines and newspapers in the United States and Europe. Rex has over 30 years of experience as a photographer and editor-in-chief at Getty Images. Last year, he won the accolade of taking more than 1.5 million celebrity photos and adding over 1,000 high-profile celebrity events, including the Oscars and Golden Globes, to his portfolio.
